Everybody knows about their feud..Some people said Mariah was jealous for Christina’s success, others said Christina said bad things for promotional reason. Well, whatever the reason is, instead of fighting each other on the media, why dont they just fight with their voice?

Both have amazing voice, eventhough the vocal range has 3 octave differences. Both are well known in RnB, eventhough Christina changes her style a lot, from pop to RnB and later on retro a la Marilyn Monroe. And yes, including her hair style and fashion. But that doesnt mean they never touch jazz.. this is two jazz standard song they battle on.

The Wind, by Mariah Carey, was written by Russ Freeman. Listen to her haunting voice, the amazing range jumping voice, etc. While Christina performed At Last, a classic song that has been brought by so many legends like Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday etc. As usual , Christina’s improvisation, the up and down vocal playing is superb. To make it fair, i choose two songs that really brought up their vocals, with piano as the main instrument, plus the band on the background.

Here’s my offer, a small package with two version of the same songs. Why? simply, cuz this song is very very beautiful. Do listen to this! A really touching song about begging a forgiveness and deep feeling of love , written by Leon Russel, then the song went on became the signature song of Donny Hathaway, but later on, in 1972 the Carpenters brought it again, in an amazing way. Karen’s amazing voice, with a smooth deep sax in the middle of the song are perfect. Then, this version were covered by lots of artists.. one of them are Herbie Hancock and Christina Aguilera.
Their version is just amazing, great collaboration, soulful, deep and bluesy, with all the interpretation, variation, both in vocal and piano. Still, with all those free playing, they sound just as a team. And that’s why i put it here too.

So… one super sweet song, in two amazing versions, is definately recommended. You’ll love them both for long time.
